Are criminal sentences a discursive genre?

Abstract

The aim of this article is to reflect on the use of the concept of gender discourse to refer to criminal sentences that dictate Courts of Chilean Oral Trial. We examine how fixed, reproduce and transmit legal knowledge in the chilean legal community, what are the characteristics of these texts and makes visible the 'genericpotential structure' of the text (PEG).
