Evolution of the morphological meaning of prefixes supra- and infra-

Abstract

This paper focuses on the analyses of evolution of morphological meaning of prefixes supra-and infra- between 1100 -2004 through the survey of the derived words with these prefixes in CORDE and CREA corpuses. In first place, it set what meanings are created by these prefixes and it distinguishes three different meanings, 'locative', 'hierarchy' and 'intensive' wiht someone subtype each one; after, it focus on their evolution over time and their relation with the category of the derivational base and the textual type what they appear in.
