Abstract

With the intention of observing the different types of relations that discourse markers establish between segments of discourse, this paper analyses those that express causality in Spanish. Information on the strategies that the receiver of the discourse should use in order to process and interpret such relations is also provided. A broad theoretical basis such as that proposed by Fraser (1998,1999) has been used since it favours the development of contrastive studies in different languages, which facilitates the task of the translator.
