A CAMPING SYSTEM FOR YOUTH AND STUDENTS TOURISM IN VENEZUELA

Abstract

After two previous failed attempts, the Venezuelan government aimed at the youth and student markets, this plan is drawn at the “Strategic National Tourism Plan 2007-2013”. Following a review of some camping and networking system conceptions, this research builds on the notion that a youth and student camping system is a product that solely targets this market segment and determines how well-received such an initiative would be. The chosen methodology of research consists of a descriptive field study based on a random stratified sample of 1,312 individuals from 7 universities, its margin of error is ± 3% and its results describe the relevance of socio-economical aspects, inclination toward tourism and preferences, viability of a camping system (level of acceptance) and it identifies services commonly requested. All objectives were met and it was established that youth and student camping systems would be viable.
