Abstract

Today, different shrines, temples, churches and religious festivals attract a growing number of people each year. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is one of the three major centres of Christian pilgrimage since medieval times (Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago). This paper focuses on the analysis of Saint James’ Way. Specifically, field work has been carried out to identify the tourist-pilgrim and to analyse their satisfaction by means of econometric models. The route and the duration of the trip, among others, affect the satisfaction of this type of tourist. The loyalty of tourist-pilgrims is another noteworthy aspect. As conclusions, different aspects are also highlighted in order to meet the demand for this type of tourism better.
