POTENTIAL USE OF OPEN DATA TO PRODUCE TOURISM MANAGEMENT INDICATORS IN BRAZILIAN MUNICIPALITIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Brazilian government classifies 2.694 municipalities with some level of tourism interest. Despite this significant number, there is not an effective mechanism to monitor tourism management in all of them yet. Considering this situation, this exploratory research aims to evaluate the potential use of open data to produce tourism management indicators in these municipalities. In order to do that, theme priorities for the municipal tourism management were identified as indicated in public policies implemented by the federal government. Indicators used to monitor tourism management in Brazilian municipalities were also analyzed. A bibliographic research was carried out to identify quality standards in the use of the open data. Based on these quality standards, potential sources and data made available on government agencies and organizations websites were evaluated. Then, sources and data with potential use for producing management indicators applicable to the set of Brazilian municipalities with tourism interest were identified.
