Abstract

The article analyzes the Consejos de Salarios (wage councils), established in Uruguay by the left wing government, as a politic response to the transformations of labor. It suggests that there are not a simply turn back from labor deregulation toward social commitments but, instead, the wage councils represent a complete upset in the relations between state, labor and capital.
