Abstract

This essay explores the different identifiable levels of significance in the construction of three documentaries to reveal, on the one hand, how the image of the indigenous is constructed, and for other, to discover how the above mentioned image revealed an ideology that has more to do with whom constructs the documentary that whom it tries to represent. This way, the significance of the indigenous and the non-indigenous in these three documentaries contains a diffuse, secret, connoted sense, which makes necessary to pay more attention to the construction of the messages than to its obvious content.
