Between radical collective action and socio-political opportunity during the social uprising in Chile: the return of the illegal land occupations in the city of Osorno (2019-2020)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this research was to examine the Social Outbreak in Chile in 2019 as an event that offered socio-political opportunities and produced changes in the subjectivities of a heterogeneous set of social actors who led the massive return of radical collective actions for housing such as land seizures and the organization of settlements. The research design considered a qualitative methodological approach that incorporated semi-structured interviews as a data collection technique. The results indicate that the Social Outbreak was configured as an event that activated politicized frameworks of interpretation of social reality, generating a specific situation that allowed the transition from the tacit acceptance of the institutional housing policy to its questioning through new processes of land seizures and the organization of squatter camps.
