Making visible to transform: prevalence of gender-based violence at the Faculty of Psychology, Córdoba, Argentina
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of different types of gender-based violence (GBV) in a Faculty of Psychology and to understand their characteristics according to gender identity, faculty membership group, and training on gender issues. A cross-sectional descriptive quantitative empirical study was conducted. A self-administered questionnaire was applied to the entire educational community. The results showed that GBV based on gender identity and/or sexual orientation is the most prevalent, both among women and other gender identities. Sexual violence is the second most reported type. Higher levels of training on gender issues correspond to a greater identification of GBV. This work contributes to making visible the existence of this structural problem in a university educational community and provides empirical evidence of the importance of gender perspective training in the prevention of GBV.
