Abstract

In this article we aim to highlight the potential of mapping and reconstructing the trajectories of the victims of genocide in the cities of La Plata, Berisso, and Ensenada (Buenos Aires, Argentina), in order to account for the depth and characteristics of repression in the region.

In this way, after the introduction, we account for the characteristics of the Gran La Plata region. Then we present some aspects of the political union organization prior to the coup d’état of 1976. In the next section, we introduce the site Digital Footprints of Memory, where more than 800 stories are reconstructed and geolocated, reflecting the diversity of identities and political, student, union, labor, territorial militancies, as well as the repressive events they subsequently suffered. Finally, we revisit some workers’ stories, the importance of their union militancies, the responsibility of companies in committing crimes against humanity, and the impact on the labor spheres. We work from a review of extensive general and specific literature, along with various sources (judicial, police, among others).
