ESTUDIO COMPARATIVO DE LAS COMUNAS DE LA REGIÓN DE LOS RÍOS Y DE LA REGIÓN DE LOS LAGOS, A TRAVÉS DE INDICADORES DE EQUIDAD DE GÉNERO EDUCACIONAL

Abstract

This study merged so as to give an answer to the orientation needs of the evolving work in education and also to back up this work in relation to gender equity on the stage of a new region. 
The indicators were selected according to the present educational policies of gender equity in Chile (IEGE), which are also the core and centre of our study (IEGE). These indicators are the result of the whole development of the indicator system followed up at the International conferences in Latin America and in the Caribbean that took place during the 90's in different parts of the World. The study of these indicators will allow us to characterize them as a base line of indicator values in the region, considering the future situation for the new regions Los Lagos and Los Ríos, respectively. We will obtain measurements that will permit a systematic evaluation of the evolution of the results obtained in relation to the new regions and in this way, to visualize the gender problems at the students' level in the Provincia of Valdivia. To accomplish the above mentioned, a comparative study between Región de los Lagos, the towns in relation to their provinces, of the new regions compared to their capitals, and of the towns of the province of Valdivia in relation to the city of Valdivia considering the values given by the Educational Gender Equality index obtained. 
The methodology to develop is to apply sorting analysis through main components. This technique allowed the construction of a typology of students, already selected, sorted according to the dispersion of the educational gender indicators, building a synthetic indicator of all of them, that may consent to characterize in this dimension the management indicator system in today's Region de los Lagos and its provinces, as well as in the Province of Valdivia, today a new region.
