Abstract

Currently, the presence of environmental problems and their impact on the consciousness and behavior of individuals seems to be minimal. Thus, the role of the new generations could be essential for the creation of new policies on the care of the environment. The objective of this work was to evaluate the environmental perceptions of high school students in Temuco city, Región de la Araucanía, through a Likert scale survey. The results obtained from 452 surveyed students suggest us: (1) a reliable environmental perception survey (Cronbach’s α=0,739), (2) a high degree of knowledge showed by students and, (3) women with a trend to a major concern around environmental problems than men. A more active role to face environmental problems by the student is discussed.
