Abstract

This article presents part of the findings of a study whose objective was to know the subjectivities of visual arts teachers in Chile and how they contribute to the social and cultural development of the region of Los Lagos, in southern Chile. A Research based on the Arts qualitative methodology was applied. Artistic Workshops of Discussion (TAD) were developed. The findings that emerged allude to four categories: (i) the place of culture in school and the teaching of the arts; (ii) the difficulties in teaching the arts; (iii) the desires of teachers in art teaching; and (iv) teaching the arts as a resilient act. As a conclusion, the study established that the subjectivity of the arts faculty is constructed in a multisituational, resilient and rizomatic process, where there are also processes of subjectivity that are individual and other are collective.
