Abstract

Adequate development of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is fundamental in the training of Physical Education (PE) teachers since this will generate innovative and impacting pedagogical practices in students. The objective of the study was to unveil the PCK of the teacher in training in the practicum in the field of PE. This was based on qualitative research, a multiple case study, in a purposive sample of 32 subjects who were interviewed. The testimonies indicated that the components of the PCK are involved in the training processes of the four universities surveyed, however, they also reveal that some components are privileged over others. In conclusion, the PCK in the PE practicum is made up of seven components: Knowledge of Context, Pedagogical Knowledge of PE, Knowledge of Students, Knowledge of Assessment, Knowledge of Content, Knowledge of Teaching Strategies, and Experiential Knowledge.
